Tryouts / Regular Season
The season promises to provide our student-athletes with outstanding opportunities to compete in high school hockey. We plan to field a Varsity Team and a Junior Varsity Team. Both teams play in the largest league in the State - IHSHL North Central.
Who
9th graders through 12th graders that attend Buffalo Grove, Hersey, or Wheeling High Schools.
When
Tryouts are typically held the third week in August. The season will run through mid-March
Where
BG/H/W Hockey primarily skates out of West Meadows Ice Arena in Rolling Meadows. We have our own locker room that is shared between both teams.
Practices
On average JV and Varsity practice 2-3 times per week at West Meadows during a 60-90 minute slot.
Games
JV and Varsity both play in the competitive IHSHL North Central Division. Between regular season league games, playoffs, exhibition games, and tournaments Varsity averages between 50-60 games and JV averages between 45-55 games.

Uniforms
If you are new to the program, there is a one time player package fee of $550 that includes a team bag, a set of game jerseys, shell, game socks, warm up jacket, and helmet decals. A black helmet and black gloves are required.
Extra Costs
There are no hidden costs. All families will pay their season fees and that includes everything (except the new player uniform fee). We do not have a slush fund or an extra fees that are mandatory within the season.
2024-2025 - Fall/Winter Season
Skater Fees: $5650 ($5500* if you pay in check or cash in Full by Preseason meeting)
Goalie Fees: $4375 ($4250* if you pay in check or cash in Full by Preseason meeting)
JV Split Player Fees: $3250 (a small number of players might get asked to split their roster spot with another player. The players who are split will get a refund of $2300 or $2400 after rosters are set. Split players will participate in every practice and at minimum every other game).
New Player Package: $550 (includes warm ups, jerseys, bag, socks, shell, and helmet decals)
Returning Player Uniform: $300 (includes jerseys, socks, and shell). If you would like a new warm up or bag, please contact Chris Waters with those costs.
Payment Information: You will be charged for the season fee immediately upon registration. You can choose to pay in full or in a payment plan.
*When you pay in full via check or cash, you will be sent a code so you don't have to pay via the website.
