Coaching Staff

Chris Waters - This will be Coach Waters' 10th year with BG/H/W. During those 10 years BG/H/W has been one of the top high school programs in Illinois. He has helped lead the team to two State Championships (2016 & 2018) and two finals fours (2017 & 2021). In addition, and one State Runner Up (2025). He has helped 15 players earn All State honors. Prior to BG/H/W, he was the hockey director for Deerfield and lead them to a White Division State Championship and an elite 8 appearance in the Red Division. Coach Waters coached Team USA to a silver medal in the 2022 Maccabiah Games. He is also the Vice President of the IHSHL North Central Conference and on the AHAI High School Committee. He has a wife (Marni), daughter (Jemma, 14), and son (Ian, 12). When he is not at the rink he can be found support his son in his own hockey and lacrosse teams or his daughter in her cheerleading and track seasons. 

Bob Wagner - Coach Wagner has been with the BG/H/W program for 24 years. Bob is currently the varsity assistant coach, but has also been the varsity head coach, hockey director, and president. He has helped lead the organization to 5 appearances at the United Center and 2 State Championships. In addition to his work at BG/H/W, he is also the former president of our conference and won the AHAI Volunteer of the Year for the work he does to support High School Hockey. Both of his sons (Chris and Pat) played at BG/H/W and will be coaching Varsity this fall.

This will be Chris's second year coaching at BG/H/W, but he is no stranger to the program. Chris was an All State player in 2007. After high school he went on to play NCAA Baseball and ACHA Hockey at Illinois State University. Last year Chris was our JV Head Coach and helped lead the team to a division championship.

We welcome back Pat Wagner to BG/H/W! Pat was an assistant coach on our 2016 State Championship team. He also played for BG/H/W. After leaving BG/H/W, Pat was the the Hockey Director at Chicago North. Last year he helped coach our JV program to its first division championship!

2025/26 will be Kris' 3rd year with BG/H/W. The past two seasons Kris was an assistant coach with Varsity. Kris brings his accomplished playing career and previous coaching experience with varsity to JV as their head coach season.

This will be Kevin's second year with BG/H/W. Kevin is a Level 4 certified coach. He also coaches youth hockey with the Chargers.

This will be Tommy's first year with BG/H/W as a coach. Tommy was a 4-year player at BG/H/W and was captain his senior year. He has previously coached for Chargers and Renegades since graduating from Wheeling High School.

This will be Thomas' first year with BG/H/W. Thomas plaid for the French National U18 and U20 teams and played professional in France 7 seasons. He won a championship in the top level of French professional hockey before retiring and moving to the United States. He has previously coaches at Northbrook and Renegades.
