Spring/Summer
The purpose of Spring Hockey at BG/H/W is to have fun, introduce players and families to high school hockey and to have coaches familiarize themselves with new players and at different levels. Spring Hockey is competitive but intentionally informal in order to allow players to participate in other spring sports or activities.
Ages
What aged players are appropriate for this program?
Current 8th - 11th graders that currently attend or plan on attending Buffalo Grove High School, Hersey High School or Wheeling High School.
When
What time of the year does this program run?
- The Spring season will run from approximately from 3/9 to 5/17
- August practices/tryouts will be 8/4 - 8/27.
Where
Where are practices and games typically held?
Most practices and games will be held at West Meadows. We will have 3-4 away games during the Spring.
Practices
When are practices and how often are they?
Spring Practices will be on Wednesday nights mostly at West Meadows. We will have skills/goalie clinics on Mondays - groups will rotate. Most of these will also be held at West Meadows.
In August, we will have ice on Tuesdays and Thursdays - mostly at West Meadows.
Each player should have 19-20 practice/skills sessions and 8 games between Spring and Summer.
Games
How many games will they play? What days of the week?
Teams will play 7-8 games against competitive teams from the Chicago area.
Jerseys
Are jerseys provided or are they purchased separately?
BG/H/W will provide a home and away jersey/socks for all players.
Extra Costs
What costs beyond registration fees should be expected?
No extra costs. If we add anything over the summer, it will be completely optional. For example, in the past we have done 3v3s, Rat Hockey, or clinics.
